"I don’t know if I found Dress For Success or it found me."


When not organizing Shop for Success, I volunteer as a personal shopper--and whatever else needs to done--in order to help women prepare for their interview or employment. There is nothing better than to see a woman walk in uncertain of what to expect, and then leave utterly transformed—shoulders back, standing tall, and confident. "I have this nailed! I'm getting that job!" they say to me. I want to thank them because that smiling, glorious face makes more of a difference in my life than anything I could do for them. I'm grateful that I can connect with such strong and courageous women on a weekly basis.


My dream is that there will never be a reason for a woman to look around the room and get the sinking feeling before the interview even starts: "Oh, no. I'm not dressed right for the part." 


The funds we raise through Shop for Success ensure that education, counseling, resume-building, and employment suitings equip women with the knowledge that they own the job they're interviewing for. Dress for Success is a priceless resource and I am proud to be a part of its Shop for Success pop-up store event.


Susan Leibsohn is a graduate of FIT and has over 20 years of experience as a clothing designer. She has chaired Shop for Success pop-up shop since its inception in 2010.
